Sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of all our farming practices.

Our arable enterprises provide feed and bedding for the livestock whilst composted animal manure and slurry provide valuable nutrients that are recycled to the land as organic fertilisers. This approach also minimises the need for artificial fertilisers and maintains the long-term fertility and organic matter of the soil.

We also seek to minimise our use of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides and adopt the most energy efficient technologies including the production and use of renewable energy.

We follow a policy of reducing waste – reusing and recycling as much as possible with the little waste that remains disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.

The highest standards of animal health and welfare are central to our production systems with the focus of activity on ensuring the comfort and wellbeing of our animals. This applies to housing, feeding, handling, disease prevention and milking.
